Through punctuation blank spaces, and italics, Intermezzo oscillates between Spanish and English, emulating the moment when one tongue becomes another.
The poem was first commissioned by rhe literary journal De Gids, for their issue on Multilingualism. It was later transformed into a performative reading accompanied with a soundscape developed in collaboration with Constanza Castagnet and exhibited as in de Brakke Grond, Amsterdam.
