Inspired by the vaulted ceiling of the space it features a set of opalescent roofing panels resting on the floor and against the wall. Sunstop Sky is titled after the commercial name of the panels, originally designed to catch and retain sunlight. The installation plays on this purpose, its colour ever so slightly transformed depending on the viewer’s position and the surrounding light. Punctuated by mirror vinyl text, glimmers appear both literally and as a sculptural language. Through these glimmers, the piece evokes the echoes, pauses, and reverberations of language; a study on how perception itself can behave like a poem.
