Maria Paris Borda

Axis is a site-specific installation consisting of a seven-metre strand of hand-sewn silver confetti stars and a poem.

The installation draws on medieval depictions of the heavens, particularly Giotto's painted star-filled vaults, while remaining rooted in the language of the domestic and the ephemeral. Rather than recreating the sublime, it humorously searches for it within the overlooked: in materials that carry little value and in almost imperceptible gestures.
